The 12th China-Japan Tribology High-End Forum was successfully held in Wuhan

From April 11 to 13, 2025, the 12th Advanced Forum on Tribology, jointly organized by the Tribology Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and the Japan Society of Tribologists, was held in Wuhan. It was co-hosted by China Mechanical Engineering Group Wuhan Materials Protection Research Institute Co., Ltd., the National Key Laboratory of Special Materials Surface Engineering, Wuhan University of Technology, the National Key Laboratory of Waterway Traffic Control, and the National Key Laboratory of Ship Thermal Energy and Power. More than 70 participants from higher education institutions, research institutes, and enterprises in China and Japan attended the conference. The forum featured 4 keynote speeches, 17 invited talks, and 22 poster presentations.

The opening ceremony was chaired by Professor Meng Yonggang from Tsinghua University. Chairman Wei Jianjun of China Mechanical Engineering Group Wuhan Materials Protection Research Institute Co., Ltd. and Academician Yan Xinping from the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Wuhan University of Technology delivered welcome speeches. Researcher Zhou Feng from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Vice Chairman of the Tribology Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society, and Professor Shinya Sasaki from Tokyo University of Science, Vice President of the Japan Society of Tribologists, gave speeches on behalf of the Chinese and Japanese organizers.

Chairpersons of the keynote speeches

 

The keynote speeches were delivered by Lu Xinchun, Chairperson of the Tribology Division of the Chinese Mechanical Engineering Society and Chief Researcher at Tsinghua University; Professor Yuan Chengqing from Wuhan University of Technology; Professor Shinya Sasaki from Tokyo University of Science; and Professor Hitoshi Washizu from Hyogo Prefectural University.

On the Chinese side, 9 representatives gave invited talks: Researcher Zhou Feng from the Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences; Professor Qian Linmao from Southwest Jiaotong University; Professor Zhang Chuanwei from Harbin Institute of Technology; Professor Zhang Hongyu from Tsinghua University; Professor Song Chenfei from Henan University of Science and Technology; Professor Wang Dagang from China University of Mining and Technology; Associate Professor Wang Hongdong from Shanghai University; Professor Ma Tianbao from Tsinghua University; and Professor Li Xinglin from Hangzhou Bearing Test Research Center Co., Ltd. On the Japanese side, 8 representatives gave invited talks: Professor Lu Renguo from Kansai University; Professor Hiroyuki Kousaka and Assistant Bae Su-Min from Gifu University; Professor Washizu Hitoshi, Professor Hiroshi Kinoshita, and Associate Professor Naohiro Matsumoto from Hyogo Prefectural University; Associate Professor Yuya Omiya from Kagawa University; Assistant Naoki Yamashita from Kyoto Institute of Technology; and Assistant Ruixi Zhang from Nagoya University.

During the conference, Chinese and Japanese experts and scholars showcased the latest research progress and developments in the field of tribology from both sides. This will help promote exchanges and cooperation between China and Japan in areas such as materials surface engineering, lubrication theory, wear-resistant technology, and tribology of energy equipment, positively impacting the deep integration of basic research and engineering applications.
